About Us

Clearview Council Mission Statement

We exist to improve public safety, support business development and foster community involvement for the benefit of those who live and work in Clearview.

Clearview Is Country to the people who live here. Our rural community is full of families, farms, woods, streams, animals, and farms, and can hold a sense of relief from the hectic urbanization rapidly coming our way. We want to preserve the rural feel of our community and do all we can to build the sense that Clearview is where people live when they love the real country, less hectic, way of life.

Build on our Present

Our vision is of a community that has the basic services available for residents, along with businesses that enhance a strong sense of local community.

With the presence of the Clearview Rural Commercial (CRC) areas, current zoning allows for many of these, including a community club, a bakery, farm stands, a farmer’s market, green houses and nurseries, antique shops, art galleries, personal Services, restaurants, retail stores, specialty stores, And Wineries and Distilleries, Rural Craft Breweries (R5 area, adjacent to CRC)

Allow Future Businesses that Enhance our Community

To further enhance our community and support a rural, community-building atmosphere, zoning changes will be needed to allow a greater variety of business in the CRC, including Craft Shops, medical and other licensed practitioners, an Equestrian Center, A Bed and Breakfast Inns, pet stores, a museum, wedding facilities, a library, and make room for a Martial Arts studio.

Infrastructure

In order to promote an intact business community, Clearview needs a Main Street. There is no denying that the major highway that plows through our community has an effect on the atmosphere of Clearview. We have several specific features to be added in the effort to upgrade the current Hiway 9 between 180th and 164th St SE:

  • Lower the speed limit on Rte 9 from180th St. north to Cathcart Way to 35 mph from current 45 mph;
  • Install a raised median strip between north and southbound lanes, from 180th to 164th, with adequate width to support some trees or shrub plantings;
  • Install sidewalks on both sides of Route 9 from 180th St. north to 164th
  • Provide/Improve pedestrian crossings in 4 or 5 locations between 180th St. and 164th St.
  • During construction work, save our existing large trees during any future construction work.

Clearview Means Country, to us, the local residents. Help us preserve and enhance our community by limiting business development in our community to the CRC Zone and adjacent R5 along Route 9, and encourage businesses there that help us maintain and enhance the country feel we already enjoy today.

We welcome you to join us and help make Clearview a great place to work and live.
